Division for Innovation Policy Research

The Division explores the future directions of S&T innovation policies and develops policy alternatives to better respond to socioeconomic changes in the future. Its areas of research include the S&T innovation system and its governance, S&T policy coordination and development strategy, and analysis and evaluation of S&T policies and R&D results.

Division for industrial innovation research

The Division explores innovation policies with the goal of strengthening industrial competitiveness based on an understanding of the characteristics of industrial innovation and corporate innovation activities.
It also engages in sectoral innovation research, mainly focused on emerging technologies, such as ICT, biotechnology, and nanotechnology. Other issues in innovation research, such as entrepreneurship, startup and SME policies, intellectual property rights, and technological regulations, are also studied.

Global Policy Research Center

The Center explores optimal policies for S&T-related diplomacy, globalization, and cooperation, and identifies issues in multilateral cooperation, including cooperation with international organizations, and explores policies designed to respond to global S&Trelated regulations, such as free trade agreements (FTAs), and S&T counterstrategies in the Northeast Asian region.

Center for strategic Foresight

The Center explores future strategies for coping with the uncertainties stemming from the radical socioeconomic changes occurring in nations around the world. It also conducts research on methodologies for systematically analyzing future social issues and policy alternatives for tackling these issues.

International Innovation Cooperation Center (IICC)

The Center explores projects that meet the demands of developing countries who aspire to learn from Korea’s S&T-based development experience. The Center also conducts policy planning for S&T infrastructure and research on STI cooperation that contribute to the advancement of developing countries.
