STEPI Science and Technology Plus Social Innovation Forum

“The Present Status of the Innovative Ecosystem of Digital Social Innovations and How to Further Develop It”

□ The Science and Technology Policy Institute (STEPI, President Jong-guk Song) will be holding a “Science and Technology Plus Social Innovation Forum,” on the topic of “The Present Status of the Innovative Ecosystem of Digital Social Innovations and How to Further Develop It” at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at Space Noah.

□ At this forum, there will be discussions on the importance of establishing and further developing an innovative ecosystem for digital social innovations in which citizens solve social problems through the use of digital technology.

 ○ For the utilization of digital social innovations, it is critical to establish an innovative ecosystem in which citizens and various trailblazers can collaborate. However, there have been insufficient concrete discussions on digital social innovative ecosystems to this point. Therefore, STEPI invites two professionals to attend this forum in order to give topical presentations as a starting move toward the initiation of specified discussions.

 ○ In the topical presentation session, Research Fellow Jong-seun Kim will present on the necessity and specific functions of digital social innovative ecosystems. With concrete cases in evidence, he presents the significance and importance of establishing innovative ecosystems. Director Jae-heung Lee of the Non-profit IT Support Center will then present on the current status of ongoing digital social innovations based on Non-profit IT Support Centers (techsoup), sharing potential tasks for improvement.

 ○ The topical presentations will be followed by a panel discussion featuring President Ja-deok Ju of Remann Co. Ltd; Investment Generation Team Manager Seung-jae Yu of The Happiness Foundation, SK; Planning Team Head Sang-don Lee of the Seoul Digital Foundation; and Director Jun-sung Jo of Underdogs.

□ STEPI believes that the forum will mark the starting point for the expansion of the issue of innovative ecosystems for digital social innovations and the establishment of innovative ecosystems.
